The collages use
texts and sentences cut off from ESL materials arranged on mirrors and neon
color paper. Intentionally only using materials common in classrooms such as
papers, pencils, staples, highlighters, and post-its, this series of collages
reference the ESL study experience. These pieces consider how cultural
displacement can be seen in language and the issues of translation, and
lost-in-translation. The reflective surfaces of this work invite the viewers to
find their relationships with the arranged texts with their own reflections,
physically and intellectually.
